MBACP Counselling for Anxiety, Trauma & Low Self-Esteem

About me

My name is Christina, though most people call me Chrissy. I am a qualified, person-centred and trauma-informed counsellor, offering a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space for adults aged 18 and over.

You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward right now. Whatever has brought you here, you don’t have to face it alone. I offer a space where you can talk openly, feel heard, and begin to make sense of what’s going on for you.

My approach is person-centred, which means I will work alongside you with empathy, honesty, and respect, always keeping you at the heart of the process. Being trauma-informed means I understand how past experiences can affect how you feel in the present, and I will always work in a way that helps you feel safe, in control, and never pressured.

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am fully insured, DBS checked, and registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office, offering a professional and confidential service you can trust.

I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and low self-esteem, as well as many other challenges life can bring. Together, we can explore what’s happening for you at a pace that feels right.

Everyone’s experience is different, so I take a flexible and collaborative approach, tailoring sessions to your individual needs. You may be looking for short-term support to work through a specific issue, or longer-term therapy to understand yourself more deeply – whatever you need, we can figure that out together.

Sessions are 50 minutes long. I offer in-person counselling from my private, comfortable space at The Barracks Business Centre in Pontefract, as well as online sessions via Google Meet and telephone counselling across the UK.

My aim is to help you feel understood, supported, and more able to move forward with clarity, confidence, and self-awareness.

I work hard to keep my session fees as affordable as possible, while offering a professional and supportive space for clients. I also offer a small number of concession-rate spaces for students (18+), student counsellors, and older adults (65+), as part of my commitment to making counselling more accessible.

Having previously volunteered with Wakefield Women’s Centre before its recent closure, as well as my previous experience working within a low-cost counselling service, I’ve seen first-hand how vital affordable support can be. I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to access counselling, regardless of financial circumstances.

If you feel this may apply to you, you’re very welcome to get in touch.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
