About me
I support you especially if you're struggling with the emotional pain of loss & bereavement. I help you work through the pain to find clarity, gratitude and purpose once again.
I offer you my experienced and skilled support as both a trained counsellor and grief tender (trained by Francis Weller).
In addition to loss and bereavement, you may also be experiencing difficult family issues, feel a sense of being fragmented or disconnected, or be experiencing challenging emotional patterns due to past trauma.
I help you in understanding the root of your pain and offer clear pathways to grow through and beyond it. The struggle, rather than being a problem, becomes a catalyst towards healing and a creative renewal of your life once again.
My practice is to meet you as you are, in all the myriad challenges and possibilities of human life. My approach is to be compassionately real; to honour your unique perspective on your emotional and psychological worlds, and to give you the time needed to tell your authentic story.
What follows are the words of a previous client:
What stands out most in Chris’ support is the way he meets the human heart as it is in the moment. He has seen me in all my colours, and wildness, and has never flinched, always accepting me, however I have presented, with grace and kindness. That depth of acceptance has been profoundly healing in itself. Equally life-changing has been his steady reminders for me to find ways to de-escalate from a trauma response. This simple but vital guidance has not only supported my ongoing survival, but also allowed me to step into greater independence, resilience and freedom. His calm integrity and welcoming generosity of spirit create a safe space in which transformation becomes possible. EC
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a BACP Registered Counsellor, mainly rooted in the person-centred approach. My role is not to fix you or tell you how you should be, but skillfully support you in leading the life you wish to lead. I offer to meet you where you are, with no judgment; to sit or walk alongside you; to be your compassionate witness; to openly welcome whatever comes up within you and help you navigate it.
I commit to being there with you and offering you a space in which you can work through difficult emotional states, find a greater clarity on your experience, and a greater balance in your life.
My counselling and related qualifications include:
- A BTEC Higher National Diploma in Integrative Counselling from the University of Glamorgan, 2013
- Death Doula Training with Alexandra Derwen, 2022, and repeated in 2025 in a supportive role for those new to the training.
- Independent Funeral Celebrant Training with Dinah Liverside, 2023
- Grief Tender Training with Frances Weller, 2023-2024
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I offer face to face, as well as online, 1-hour sessions.
I offer you a 15-minute free initial session to share a little of your current situation, and explain the levels of support I can offer you. Following this initial session, we could then decide if we wish to continue working together.
In my work I receive regular supervision, and ongoing professional training.
