About me

My approach

I offer a safe and non-judgemental space where you can feel seen, heard and accepted. Therapy can be a place to slow down, make sense of what you are experiencing, and explore the beliefs, patterns and ways of coping that may be contributing to your difficulties. I work integratively: drawing from psychodynamic, humanistic, existential, cognitive behavioural (CBT), and systemic approaches. This means that I can offer therapy suitable for you as an individual, accounting for your specific needs, circumstances and the issues you would like to explore.

I believe that we do not have to be defined by our past experiences or the patterns we have developed. Often, these patterns began as ways of surviving, coping or protecting ourselves from pain. However, that which may once have been helpful can sometimes leave us feeling stuck, disconnected or unfulfilled. Developing a greater understanding of these patterns and the experiences behind them can be a gateway to change. Through therapy, we can explore what may be keeping you stuck and consider new ways of relating to yourself, others and the world. My hope is that this can help you feel more like an active participant in your own life, with greater freedom, fulfilment, purpose and a sense of connection.

I work with individuals from a range of diverse backgrounds and with a variety of experiences. You may come to therapy with a clear understanding of what is troubling you, or you may simply know that something doesn't feel right, without being able to put your finger on it. Both are valid starting points.

How I work

I often work on an open-ended basis, allowing time for deeper issues to emerge during the therapeutic process. However, I also offer a more focused and time-limited therapy for some difficulties, particularly when you would like support with a specific issue.

I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is central to therapeutic work. For this reason, I offer a free 15-minute online consultation, giving us an opportunity to briefly talk about what brings you to therapy and for you to get a sense of whether I might be the right therapist for you.

  • Life transitions, including moving to a new country, separation, divorce and other significant changes

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified psychotherapist with the BACP and have worked in mental health for 7 years. I have also completed all of the clinical and academic components for my doctoral training in counselling psychology, and am currently working towards submitting my doctoral thesis for this programme.

During my career, I have also been trained in and have offered therapy in other additional approaches including: Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), MANTRA (The Maudsley Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults), Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT-E), and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).

My experience spans both NHS and private settings, where I have offered individual and group therapy, as well as working with clients' families to provide psychoeducation and delivering family-based therapy for clients with eating disorders. I have also had the opportunity to extend this work beyond direct clinical intervention, offering a reflective space for trainee GPs and providing hospital staff with psychoeducation around therapeutic approaches and how best to support and work with neurodivergent individuals.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
