About me

Are you struggling to cope? Anxiety getting too much? Feeling low? Having issues with family? Battling with your sense of identity and sense of self? You are not alone. And therapy can help you to unpick these issues.

How I can help

I've worked with people on tackling anxiety (of various different types), depression, body image issues, low self-esteem, family and relationship issues, and chronic illness. I also have experience with issues primarily concerning the LGBTQ+ community, such as questioning or coming to terms with your sexuality and/or gender identity, coming out, and dealing with internalised shame.

About me

I worked in a number of industries before training as a therapist. I had a blog for years about my own mental health, and hearing how it helped others inspired me to want to work in counselling. I work primarily from a person-centred approach, where each session is a two-way conversation, focussed around helping you to deal more easily with whatever is thrown your way.

I'm based in Canterbury with my partner and dog - sadly he's not helpful as a therapy dog; he's too excited and would just cover everyone in hair! I have my own counselling room at Lombard House, near Canterbury East/ Canterbury bus station.

What next?

It's really important to find a counsellor who's a good fit, so I offer a free introductory call for us to get to know each other a little. You can ask me questions and I'll get a sense of what you're looking to gain from therapy. Feel free to get in touch with me through the directory, or my website.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
