About me
Welcome to Ember & Elm Therapy Practice. Helping you grow into the parent you want to be.
I'm a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist specialising in perinatal mental health, offering compassionate online therapy for women during pregnancy, after birth and throughout the transition into motherhood.
Becoming a parent is one of life's biggest transitions. Alongside love and joy, it can also bring anxiety, self-doubt, grief, guilt and emotional challenges that can feel difficult to navigate alone. Whether you're recovering from a difficult birth, struggling with anxiety or low mood, adjusting to motherhood, or simply feeling unlike yourself, therapy can offer a space to slow down, make sense of your experiences and move forward with greater self-compassion.
My approach to supporting you is warm, collaborative and evidence-based. I primarily draw on Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), while integrating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Every piece of therapy is tailored to your individual needs, values and goals.
At the heart of my work is the belief that therapy should feel safe, compassionate and free from judgement. My hope is that every person who works with me leaves feeling heard, understood and better equipped to grow into the parent they want to be.
I offer online therapy across the UK. If you're wondering whether we might be a good fit, I'd be happy to hear from you.
You're welcome here.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over ten years' experience working within NHS mental health services, including the last five years in a specialist Perinatal Mental Health Team, supporting women experiencing a wide range of emotional difficulties during pregnancy and the postnatal period.
Alongside being a psychologist, I'm also a mum. My own experience of motherhood, including experiencing a traumatic birth with my second daughter, has deepened my appreciation of just how transformative, joyful and challenging this chapter of life can be. While my experiences never replace your individual story, they have strengthened my commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based support to women during this important transition.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
