About me

Hello and welcome to my page - Cheryl Barnes-Tadman - Counselling & Psychotherapy. I am an accredited member of the BACP and adhere to the BACP Code of Ethics. I offer a professional and confidential service.

I am able to offer a no-obligation initial assessment session. I feel this is important to enable both of us to form a working alliance. This means you can 'get a sense' of whether you feel comfortable working with me, and that I am able to accompany you on your therapeutic journey offering empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard.

I have been qualified for over 30 years and offer an Integrative model of counselling. This enables me to tailor my approach to best suit each individual client's needs. I work with adults over 18 years of age, and offer Individual and Couple (Relationship) Therapy.

I am experienced in dealing with a range of difficulties, including Anger, Anxiety, Bereavement & Loss, Depression & Low Mood, Eating Disorders, Health Issues, Low Self Worth or Esteem, OCD, Panic, Phobias, Relationship Issues, Sexual Abuse, Stress and Life Crises.

Before I relocated to the South of England I managed my own successful Therapy business, and also worked within the NHS as a Counsellor/Therapist at a large GP Practice for many years, Essex University, various Private Health Companies, two Occupational Health Departments, Employee Assisted Resources/Programmes (EAR/EAPs') Emergency Services and am able to take referrals from individuals/couples.

If you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
