About me

Hi.

I am a Level 7 qualified counsellor working within a person-centred approach, where you are the centre of your own journey. I have experience of working in NHS Talking Therapies and working with Children and Young People (CYP) within a charity setting. I believe that everyone has the capacity to grow, heal and gain more self-understanding, and that sometimes we need support, guidance, or simply a safe space to explore thoughts and feelings. My role is to provide a space in which you feel comfortable to discuss what is going on for you. I understand that life can present challenges at different times, and seeking help is a courageous and important step. Together, we can explore whatever is meaningful to you, at a pace set by you, helping you to evaluate where you are now and evolve into a more fulfilling and balanced way of being.

I grew up in a large family with many different characters and I believe this sparked my genuine interest in people and the many nuances of relationships. I have been married for 25 years and have two grown up children, experiencing many of life’s milestones.
Before training as a counsellor, I had a varied career in the corporate world, where I specialised in building relationships, understanding people, and supporting them to achieve their goals. This experience has provided a strong foundation for my counselling practice and continues to inform the way I work with clients today. I have a passion for learning and am committed to ongoing professional development and continually update my knowledge and skills to best support those I work with.

What is therapy?

When you experience pain and emotional distress it can lead to a whole range of feelings anger such as anger, guilt, sadness, stress and anxiety, and these can present in many different forms. Some of these feelings are only noticeable to yourself as we all become good at hiding or ignoring these emotions. By allowing yourself to acknowledge these feelings and asking what they are trying to tell you, you can make a difference to your own life.

This is what Counselling can offer - a chance to be curious about your experiences, create more space for your feelings, and practice lovingly holding the parts of you that are hurting, with acceptance and compassion.

Acceptance of who you are is a necessary condition to change and growth. When you learn to embrace yourself as you are and hold all parts of yourself with love, you can open the door to deep healing.

All of you is welcome here without criticism or judgement. Learning to explore your past, evaluate your present and evolve into your future and who you want to be in. With guidance and encouragement, without pushing anything away, open yourself up to a new path and move forwards with your life.

Life is ever-changing and you cannot always control what happens. Often, we exhibit the same patterns of behaviour we always have but expect different results. You are the expert in your own life, but counselling can help you become more self-aware and provide the skills you need to navigate life’s challenges in order to grow and evolve.

“A person is a fluid process…a flowing river of change” Carl Rogers.
