About me

My practice is centred on supporting young people, parents, carers and families who may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally stuck, disconnected from themselves or others, or struggling with the pressures of everyday life.

Some of the issues I work with include:

  • Anxiety, feeling overwhelmed and emotional stuckness
  • Pressure from school, work or family life
  • Difficulties with friendships, relationships and family challenges
  • Neurodiversity, including ADHD and autism
  • Eating disorders
  • Parenting concerns
  • Identity, belonging and cultural expectations
  • Low confidence and self-esteem
  • Loss, change and life transitions
  • Attachment difficulties and the impact of trauma or adverse childhood experiences

I have worked with young people and families for over 18 years and have been a school counsellor since 2013. Working in schools and private practice has given me insight into the challenges many young people face today, including academic pressure, social anxiety, relationships, family difficulties, and questions of identity and belonging. Alongside this, I work with parents, carers and families who may be struggling with relationships, change or emotional wellbeing.

My approach is integrative and tailored to each individual. I believe that people are the experts in their own lives and that therapy works best when it provides a safe, respectful and non-judgemental space to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences.

I recognise that our lives are shaped by our backgrounds, cultures, relationships and personal experiences. My work is informed by an understanding of attachment, trauma and resilience, and I aim to provide a space where these can be explored openly and with curiosity.

Often, people come to therapy having spent a long time focusing on the needs and expectations of others. Together, we can make sense of what is happening, deepen understanding, and explore ways forward that feel meaningful and manageable.

Are you a young person who feels overwhelmed, anxious or stuck? Perhaps with school, organisation, exams, friendships, relationships, or everything in between? Do you want someone to talk to who does not judge and who brings no agenda of their own to the conversation?

If so, therapy may be helpful.

Likewise, if you are a parent or carer concerned about a child, or feeling overwhelmed by the demands of family life, therapy can provide space to think, reflect and find a way forward.

I offer both single-session and longer-term therapy. Some people come with a specific issue they would like to work through, while others find it helpful to explore broader patterns, relationships or life experiences over a longer period.

Whatever brings you to therapy, we will work together at a pace that feels right for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

I have worked with young people and families for more than 18 years and have been a school counsellor since 2013. This experience has given me extensive knowledge of the emotional, educational and social challenges facing young people today, together with the impact these can have on parents and carers.

My approach is integrative, drawing on person-centred, humanistic, cognitive and solution-focused approaches. My work is informed by attachment theory, trauma-informed practice and an understanding of adverse childhood experiences and resilience.

I undertake regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development to ensure my practice remains safe, ethical and up to date.

I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and have previously worked as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), giving me a broad understanding of safeguarding and the complex challenges that can affect children, young people and families.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I offer both single-session therapy (SST) and longer-term counselling. Single-session therapy can be particularly helpful for people who are seeking focused support with a specific issue, while longer-term counselling provides the opportunity to explore more complex or longstanding difficulties. Together, we will decide which approach is most appropriate for your needs.

Further information

Many people feel uncertain about coming to counselling for the first time. Reaching out can feel like a big step, and I understand how important it is to find someone you feel comfortable talking to. My aim is to make the process as welcoming, straightforward and relaxed as possible.

I offer a free 15-minute introductory telephone conversation so that we can talk about what has brought you to therapy, answer any questions you may have, and decide together whether we are the right fit to work together.

The first full session is an opportunity for us to begin building an understanding of what is happening in your life and what you hope to gain from therapy. There is no pressure to share everything at once. We will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Together, we will think about your goals, explore what support may be most helpful, and decide whether a single-session, short-term or longer-term approach is likely to meet your needs.

Appointments are available in person, online, outdoors through walk and talk therapy, or, where appropriate, by home visit.

Above all, I believe that the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of effective counselling. My aim is to offer a calm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you feel heard, understood and supported to make sense of your experiences and move towards the changes that matter to you.
