About me

I’m an imperfect human with an eclectic work background in sound production. I’ve raised two children, have learnt from my many mistakes and continue to do so. In 2019, I embarked upon my counselling journey; it was a rough ride which often broke me. I eventually qualified as a counsellor and psychotherapist and set up my private practice working within the Integrative Humanist approach, using Person Centred, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt modalities. My broad base of theoretical understanding and experience allows me to work reflectively with adults, adapting my style to suit the unique characteristics of my clients (working with human differences and diversity), whilst employing an accepting, warm, unprejudiced and empathetic approach.

Prior to qualifying, I spent over 25 years working in the music industry and possess a first-hand understanding of the distinctive demands and impact of touring. I hold a passion for advocating enhanced mental health in all walks of life and in particular, the music industries. I also undertake work with musicians, managers, support artists, and music industry crew, at all stages of their careers. Psychotherapy permits all clients to take away fundamental lifelong tools which assists them to navigate their life journey.

There are a multitude of characteristics within ourselves – some we like, some we dislike. Folk often talk about searching for the ‘real me’ for years. I don’t consider the ‘real me’ resides in us at all. There are merely conditions of our mind and patterns of awareness and intricacy. We all have the ability to change those patterns of behaviour in order to live a different, and better life. My mission is to assist clients in living a fulfilling life by revealing their potential, playful imagination and eliminating constraints to transformation.

Working together at your pace

Time limited therapy is suitable for those with a specific objective in mind and you may only require 6 – 12 sessions. On the other hand, some clients prefer a more structured approach that requires deeper introspection to explore deep rooted emotions. Or you may just want a ONEplus session which is effective therapeutic support that’s dynamic and delivered to those seeking help when working through specific issues swiftly, i.e. to strengthen a relationship, tackle a problem, improve listening and communication skills, etc.

Clients work at their own pace by exploring and navigating the origin of their painful feelings or adverse experiences that cause distress. Focus is placed on long lasting change through using an array of creative aids. It’s possible to nurture natural curiosity by helping clients appreciate themselves, and others, in conjunction with how life difficulties can surface in relationships.

A unique approach

Choice is paramount in all collaborative relationships. My therapeutic technique is different - it’s holistic and adaptable; sessions are often tailormade. Gentle sound therapy (Tibetan singing bowls, chimes, gongs etc) and music, are powerful and transformative tools and can be combined in face-to-face sessions which may help physiological and/or psychological states.

Next steps

I always offer a free consultation via phone or online, which gives you the opportunity to decide whether we can work collaboratively, and if I can accommodate your current needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

I recognise unforeseen events and emergencies crop up on the rare occasion, therefore, I try to be as accommodating as possible. In such circumstances, I try to re-schedule appointments to a mutually agreed time. If this isn’t possible, I operate a 48-hour cancellation policy. Should a client cancel their session with less than 48 hours’ notice, the contracted fee will be charged.

Occasionally, something may prevent me from delivering a session. I will give as much notice as possible if this should arise. There is no charge to the client.
