About me
I am a qualified and experienced psychodynamic counsellor, providing counselling to individual adults. I offer a safe and confidential therapeutic space where we can explore and make sense of your experiences, thoughts and feelings.
How Counselling Can Help
People come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be experiencing a change in personal or professional circumstances which you are finding challenging. You may be struggling with difficult emotions from the present or past, such as anger, fear or loneliness. You may be having difficulties in relationships with others and noticing that certain patterns keep emerging. It can be a big decision but one that can have huge benefits.
I believe our early relationships have a strong influence on how we view ourselves as adults, and counselling can help disentangle the past from the present and future. This can help us to make changes and step forward in our lives.
What I Offer
I offer both short term and long term counselling on a weekly basis. Sessions will take place at the same time on the same day each week and will last for 50 minutes.
I offer face to face sessions in central Basingstoke, online sessions via Teams and telephone sessions. For online and phone sessions you will need a safe confidential space where you will not be disturbed.
I will support you at your own pace on your journey towards a better understanding of yourself and what might be going on for you. As a psychodynamic counsellor, I will be mindful of how your past experiences may affect your current patterns of thinking, feeling and relating to others.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have been working as a qualified psychodynamic counsellor for over nine years and have worked with clients with many different issues in both a generalist counselling service and in private practice.
I have experience of working with clients with issues including anxiety, depression, loss, neglect and neurodiversity. Each client has extended my experience and has helped me deepen the understanding that I can offer.
I am a qualified member of BACP (British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists) and abide by its Ethical Framework.
I am ICO (Information Commissioners Office) registered and DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) checked.
My qualifications include:
- 2011-2012 - Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling – WPF, London
- 2012-2015 - Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling – Basingstoke Counselling Service
- I am currently a candidate for a PhD in Creative Writing and Wellbeing at Teesside University, focusing on inheritance and memory through everyday objects, using psychodynamic theory to underpin this.
I regularly attend shorter training events and lectures on issues including Attachment and Trauma, Breaks in Therapy, The Nuts and Bolts of Attachment Theory and Working With Risk.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
If you feel I could be of help to you then please get in touch. You can contact me by email or leave a message by phone. I will then contact you to arrange an initial consultation session, which is an opportunity to discuss what you are looking for in counselling, ask questions, and for us to decide if we could work together.
