About me

Life can be challenging, and sometimes we all need a little extra support. I’m here to help adults navigate both everyday struggles and deeper, more complex issues. Through secure Zoom sessions, getting the support you need is simple and convenient, no matter where you are.

Hello, I’m Carol, I’m a therapist specialising in self-esteem, trauma, understanding relationships (with ourselves and others), and working with adults who are CODAs (Children of Deaf Adults).

I’m a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults), fan of dogs, music, and books, and happiest being by the sea or surrounded by trees.

I work with:

ADULTS who feel overwhelmed, unbalanced, and sometimes on the edge.

CODAs seeking support to navigate the common experience of being stuck between the Deaf and Hearing world, and the impact on family dynamics and expectations, self-esteem, trauma, guilt, and identity.

I work in a person-centred way which means I believe in your ability to find the best way forward, whilst also having a responsibility to help you face things you may have been avoiding. Together, we will explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, allowing the time and space to navigate your experiences. Each session is guided by the issues you bring, at a pace that feels right for you.

My aim is to help you gain understanding, discover the person you want to be, and feel empowered to make positive changes and find your own path forward.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Registered Member MBACP
  • Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling - CPCAB

I provide individual online therapy to adults via Zoom, making it convenient for you to access professional support from the comfort of your own home or chosen quiet space. While I’m based in mid-Essex, I work online with clients across the country.

I work in an open-ended, client-led way. Each session is guided by the issues you bring, and at a pace that feels right for you. You decide how long, or how short the work we do together is.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
