About me
My aim is to provide a therapeutic experience that not only directly addresses the presenting issues, but also nourishes the person's psychological, spiritual, emotional, social and physical health and well-being, as these aspects are all inter-connected.
Coming to therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you're working through difficult times in your personal or professional life. I offer a warm, grounded space to explore together what is going on for you. You are welcome to bring whatever you are going through and share it in the room with me.
Training, qualifications & experience
I'm BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) registered, having studied an Integrative course, resulting in a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Practice. That means I've covered pyschodynamic, cognitive beharioural therapy and humanistic/ person-centred approaches to therapy. I will be on your side, looking at things from your point of view with you. I will work with you to understand where your current challenges and emotions are coming from which, in my experience, helps people to become freer sooner.
I've worked for 25 years as an executive coach, mainly with Managing Directors and senior executives (and having a Professional Certificate in Executive Coaching) and lecture in leadership at Cranfield University (working exclusively with executives). I have been supervised by a Jungian psychodynamic supervisor for many years with this work.
Before becoming a coach, I worked in large companies in senior roles, and still do coaching and mentoring work with executives, and am a Director of two companies. That means I understand the dynamics at play in organisations, and have a deep knowledge of group dynamics and how they play out at work and beyond.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
