About me

I offer a private, confidential service committed to facilitating your journey to better mental health. I can provide a safe, welcoming, confidential space which contributes to supporting you through your difficulties. We offer short or long term Counselling and Psychotherapy for Adults.

We are a wheelchair accessible service. (I also hope to offer Skype/ telephone support in particular circumstances, please contact me if you feel this may be necessary).

My integrative approach to therapy which involves a combination of several therapeutic techniques associated with Humanistic approaches.

The approach used, focuses on the relationship between you and your therapist (the therapeutic relationship), as this is often an avenue into understanding your difficulties and gaining an in depth understanding of who you are as an individual.

This approach requires me to take time to listen to you and your difficulties and strive to build a strong therapeutic relationship between you, in order to build trust and support.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified Integrative Psychotherapist, Registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I am experienced in working with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma and low self-esteem. My professional background has been in working with Autistic young adults with non-verbal communication.

My approach combines different techniques associated with Person Centred Therapy and Transactional Analysis. I focus on the current difficulties a person is experiencing and listen to your problems. Through this, I can support you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your difficulties.

I am particularly interested in working with clients with Chronic Illnesses, such as Fibromyalgia and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, with the approach to supporting clients with the debilitating and isolating effects that illnesses such as these can have on a person’s wellbeing and identity. My professional background has been in working with Autistic young adults with non-verbal communication and I continue to work in this field alongside my work as a Therapist.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
