About me

Counselling in-person in Alnwick & Gosforth

Hi, I'm Bev,  could I be the right counsellor for you?  People come to counselling for many reasons.  Have you ever felt lonely even when there are people around you.   Maybe your facing a dilema and you really dont know what to do for the best.  Sometimes anger can cause an issue in our lives and relationships and we need help to figure out where that comes from and how we can express it in a health way.  Do you ever have negative thoughts that just seem to intensify?  Perhaps your self esteem is low and you feel unworthy or unheard. Have you suffered from Trauma either recently or in your childhood and you would like someone to talk to about it and help to support you?  Do you feel overwhelmed or irritable? Confused or Upset?  Angry or Isolated? - these are all things we experience from time to time but sometimes they become too much for us to deal with alone and counselling provides that safe, confidential, and supportive space for you to share whatever is troubling you without fear of being judged. Whatever your reason for thinking about counselling it's important you feel comfortable to be able to share your thoughts and feelings with someone who understands and really listens.

How do you decide who is the best fit counsellor for you? I offer a free 30 min call so you can find out more about my practice and ask any questions you may have. You are under no obligation to continue your therapy journey with me, it’s important to me that you get support from someone you connect with. I want to ensure that your experience of counselling feels truly individual and meaningful.

I’m an Integrative Counsellor. - what does that mean?  It means that my core practice is person centred therapy, however I use techniques from other therapeutic modalities such as CBT, SFT and Gestalt to shape my integrative practice which helps clients to identify unhelpful patterns, develop healthy coping strategies, and reconnect with their strengths. We take things at your pace and you decide which strategies work best for you.  Regular reflection on progress ensures that therapy remains meaningful and centred on your evolving needs. offering in-person, online, and telephone therapy for adults and teenagers.

I understand that taking the first step toward counselling can feel daunting. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to start, I offer a compassionate space where you don’t have to face things alone. Together, we can work towards helping you feel more grounded, resilient, and at ease with yourself. We’ll work at your pace, in a non-judgmental space where you can talk freely and be heard. I believe therapy should help you feel understood and supported while developing the tools, strategies and self-awareness to navigate life’s challenges both during and beyond our sessions.

I have experience supporting clients through a wide range of issues, including:

Anxiety and Panic

Depression and Low Mood
Trauma and PTSD
Low Self-Esteem and Confidence
Relationship and Family Difficulties

Life Transitions and Personal Growth.

Sessions are flexible to fit around shift work, family life, or studies, and I aim to make therapy as accessible and affordable as possible.  Sessions do not have to be weekly, you can have fortnightly or monthly sessions to suit you.

Online and telephone sessions are offered at a discounted rate of £40. For those on low income please get in touch directly for concessions available.
Student discounts are also available.
If you’re ready to begin or simply want to find out more, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’d be happy to answer any questions and discuss how therapy could best support you.

If at any point we feel that a different type of therapy or another professional might be better suited to your goals, I’ll support you in finding what works best for you. My aim is to help you move forward in a way that feels right, comfortable, and empowering.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
