About me

Hi I’m Beth, I am a person-centred counsellor working face to face, online and over the phone. I offer safe, confidential client-led sessions to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences. My role is not to diagnose, tell you what to do, or to judge. You are in the driving seat; the sessions will move at your pace.

I offer a free introductory call where we can discuss what you are looking to get out of our time together. This also gives you a chance to decide if you would like to arrange an in-person session.

It can be overwhelming taking the first step to get in touch. I like to keep things informal within the counselling room, so let’s sit down and have a brew!

Training, qualifications & experience

My background is in social care/social science, supporting a range of clients experiencing ADHD, Autism, GDD, behavioral issues, as well as complex trauma and abuse.

I have worked with a number of mental health/ wellbeing organisations within Calderdale, including Unmasked Mental Health and Invictus Wellbeing.

I completed my counselling training in Counselling & Psychotherapy in Professional Practice at Salford University. I have also completed additional training in:

  • Gaming and Gambling Harm Prevention (YGam).
  • Self-harm (BACP).
  • Working Creatively with the Inner Child in Counselling Training (Deep Release).
  • ComBAT Behavioural Activation Training (University of York).
  • Online counselling (Open University).
  • Working creatively with Visual metaphors in therapy (BACP).
  • Working with people seeking asylum and refugees (Calderdale Valley of Sanctuary).
  • Safeguarding Adults and children (Calderdale council).
  • Identifying and responding to intra-familial child sexual abuse (Calderdale council).
  • Autism training Level 3 (voyage care).
  • LGBTQ intimate relationships and Domestic Abuse (LEVEL change).
  • Invisible Mourners: When Grief Is Unseen, The Impact of Bereavement on Siblings (Anna Freud).
  • Sexual Violence Essential Training (Independent Domestic Abuse Services).
  • ADHD in Therapy (Northside Training).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
