About me
Are you a parent/carer looking for help for your troubled child? It can feel overwhelming, scary and even hopeless at times to know how best to help them navigate their issues.
I spent four years as a school counsellor at a secondary school in Leicestershire, working with over 365 young people. I know from the inside how much young people can struggle — and how much courage it takes for them to ask for help. That experience shapes everything about how I work.
Maybe they are feeling anxious about school, friendship difficulties or life in general. Maybe they are grappling with big emotions and seem angry, sad or despairing all the time. Perhaps their self-esteem is suffering. They might not be coping at all, or coping in ways that worry you, such as self-harm.
I will offer a warm, calm and accepting space for your young person to explore and make sense of their feelings and experiences. I will work with your young person aged 8-25 to help them find their own path and solutions to the problems that matter to them. Depending on your young person’s preferences, our sessions may involve pure talking therapy, creative activities and/or some psycho-education to help them understand what’s happening for them.
I would encourage you to share the “Message for Young People” from my website https://spacetotalkcounselling.com/message-for-young-people which may answer any questions they have and give them a feel for me and how I work. I also have information relating to questions I am most commonly asked by parents.
I work in person from my garden office in Great Bowden, Market Harborough. You are welcome to book a 10-15 minute initial phone or call to see if you think I could help your young person. Please email me here to get in touch. I usually respond within 48 hours at the latest.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
