About me
Hello and thank you for visiting my profile!
About me
My name is Beth, and I offer person-centred counselling, online, to individuals 18+.
I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Counselling and have experience of working with adults and young people. I have a professional interest in working with issues around body image, low self-esteem, and anti-fat bias, but I work with clients with a wide range of different issues or struggles.
I’m based in Liverpool but working online allows me flexibility to work with clients from all around the UK.
About my therapy practice:
As a counsellor, my intention is to create a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental space for you to explore your emotions, thoughts, and issues. My approach is person-centred, meaning I believe everyone has the capacity for growth, we just sometimes need help in navigating our struggles. I believe you are the expert on yourself, so I’m here to sit alongside you, to support you, as we work through things together.
You may be thinking of starting your counselling journey for a number of reasons. Maybe you’d like support in dealing with current difficulties, such as body image issues, relationship problems, work-related stress, a bereavement, or perhaps you want to explore a painful experience from your past that still impacts you. Maybe you’re suffering from anxiety, depression, or feeling overwhelmed, lost, and unsure of how to move forward.
Today’s world can be harsh and high-pressure, stopping us from having time to reflect and process what we’re going through and what we’ve been through in our past. Counselling allows you that time and space, and this can be hugely beneficial to your well-being and all aspects of your life.
When considering counselling, clients can often feel unsure and nervous, especially if it’s their first experience with counselling. It can feel scary to open up to someone you don’t know and haven't met before. This is quite common and completely normal so I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation before we begin any work together, to give you the opportunity to ask any questions you might have and for you to get a sense of whether I may be the right counsellor for you.
Online Counselling:
For many people, accessing counselling face to face is difficult for lots of reasons, such as mobility issues, accessibility, geography, childcare, anxiety, etc. Some people find it easier to talk about their issues and feelings with a counsellor when they aren't in the same physical room together.
In general, sessions take place somewhere the client feels safe and comfortable, which may be their own home, rather than attending a counsellor’s therapy room or office. Working online also allows for greater convenience in attending appointments as there's no travel required and you can attend from wherever you are located, provided the space is confidential.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified person-centred counsellor.
I completed my Level 2 Counselling Skills training at RASA Merseyside and then went on to study at the University of Chester where I received a Master’s Degree in Clinical Counselling.
I have experience working with both young people and adults, with a wide range of issues.
I have previous experience as a Counsellor for Childline.
I am a registered member of BACP, have monthly clinical supervision, and I am fully insured.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
First Session:
Typically, during our first session together I will ask you to talk to me about what has brought you to counselling.
You're welcome to ask any questions about how we will work together and what you might like to get from our sessions. You might not know this initially and that is ok.
We can also discuss the frequency and number of sessions.
Subsequent sessions will allow you the time and space to explore your issue(s) in more detail and through working together enable you to find the best way forward.
