About me
It could be that we begin to realise that as hard as we try to do things differently, we end up with the same dilemma or same position as before.
As a psychotherapist, my aim is to explore at depth any problems that you are seeking help for. I am also a certified trauma therapist in AIT: this treatment works with the negative energy in the body, which has collected over time through specific traumas, developmental traumas, negative core beliefs and unhelpful patterns of behaviours and thoughts. This treatment has been developed after years of research on the impact of trauma on the brain and neural pathways and its’ effects on the body. The two types of therapy work together. BUT you may prefer to not have AIT and that is fine too. I am experienced in the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT); you might know this as tapping. This is helpful for releasing trauma and unprocessed emotions.
I am an AuDHD psychotherapist. While I work largely with neurotypical (non-autistic/ADHD) clients, my lived experience means I understand firsthand the challenges of burnout, executive dysfunction, and navigating a neurotypical world. You won’t have to justify your coping mechanisms here.
My approach is warm and welcoming, where we would talk about your needs and how I can best help you. The initial session would also give you the opportunity to decide if you would be comfortable to continue sessions with me.
My commitment to you would include ensuring that I provide a safe, secure haven where you would be able to find your true, inner voice, in contrast to the world we live in where work, family and relationships can cause us to lose ourselves.
My main approach is Psychodynamic which includes exploring past experiences and relationships and how they may have impacted on present day difficulties; exploring and working through self-sabotaging behaviour, self-criticism and low self-worth. There is more information about this in my book, ‘Where I End and Other Begin and Why Boundaries Depend on your Sense of Self’.
My integration includes an awareness of how the body responds to emotional distress such as anxiety, anger, sadness and longing: an understanding of what a person’s body is ‘saying’ can help where the right words cannot be found.
I have experience in a wide range of issues but I also specialise in:-
PTSD
CPTSD
> childhood and adult abuse
> relationship issues
> anxiety
> depression
.
