About me

At present, you could be looking at my profile due to the fact that you are trying to find a counsellor who will meet your mental and emotional needs. . Or you could be looking for the first time because family members or friends have advised you to seek help. Whatever your reason, I do the first session for free for people who have come to me through this website, so that you can see if you will feel comfortable working with me.

An introduction to me:

As a counsellor, I do not look for a client to be a certain fit, but rather I look to see if the client needs me and can work with me and vice versa. Before the first session, I will send you a few forms, via email, to fill in and send back to me at least 24 hours before.

In the first session, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and we will work out if we have any further interest in moving forward. Should we agree to move forward, then we have an agreement to sign, which binds me to remain ethical and you to be truthful to me.

If you would be interested in starting counselling, please send me an email to arrange a free initial session or to ask any questions.

We have work to do:

These sessions can be very stressful and exhausting, yet extremely rewarding. Because we work with our inner being, that which no one seems to see or hear. In Psychotherapy, they call it the Unconscious. Our inner being has learned to put on many masks, each mask to fit the occasion or the person we are relating to. Yet, from behind the mask, we are calling out for help, for recognition. Hoping people would see who we truly are, and help us to find our true self that has become lost on the road to the here and now.

Some of my clients have said, after a few sessions that I get them, I see them. This is because in our sessions I listen, and I try to hear what the real you is saying. This takes time. You have learned over the many years to hide your true feelings and thoughts. So much so that even you do not always know who you really are. You did this to protect yourself.

Outcome:

I work with you, to enable you:

  • To grow in your relationships with others;
  • To understand and have a good relationship with your body;
  • To find meaning in your life;
  • To find the inner strength to say "no" to anyone and anything, to make your own choices and decide for yourself what you want to do with your life situations.

Further information

In counselling, I have found my clients learn a lot about themselves and who they really are. They also begin to understand why people are the way they are towards them. This enables my clients, in time, to hit the refresh button and start again, with or without some of those with whom they are in a relationship.
