About me
Reaching out for therapy can feel like a daunting step, and it’s completely understandable if you’re unsure where to begin.
I’m Ben, an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, and I believe therapy should feel like a conversation rather than an interrogation. My aim is to offer a space where you can speak openly, make sense of your experiences, and explore whatever is bringing you to therapy without feeling judged or rushed.
I work with adults aged 18 and over, offering online sessions across the UK and face-to-face appointments in Chester.
As an integrative therapist, I don’t believe there’s a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Every person has their own story, experiences and way of making sense of the world, so I tailor our work together to suit your individual needs rather than following a rigid formula.
People come to therapy for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief, life changes, stress, identity questions or simply feel that something isn’t quite right. Whatever has brought you here, we’ll work together to understand what’s happening and find a way forward that feels authentic to you.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before getting in touch. If you’re considering therapy, you’ve already taken the first step.
Training, qualifications & experience
I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and trained through CPCAB pathway.
My approach is integrative, which in simple terms means I don’t stick to one way of working. Instead, I draw from different approaches depending on what feels most useful for the person in front of me. Some people need space to talk and be heard, others need help making sense of patterns or finding practical ways through things most people need a bit of both.
Alongside private practice, I’ve worked alongside other professionals in health and community settings, supporting adults through a wide range of difficult and often complex situations. That experience has given me a real respect for how much people carry, often without anyone fully seeing it.
I keep developing my practice through ongoing training in areas like suicide and self-harm, safeguarding, addiction, neurodiversity, trauma-informed work and ethical practice. I also have regular supervision and work within the BACP Ethical Framework.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Finding the right therapist is important, and I understand that it can feel like a big decision.
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. I’ll explain how I work, we’ll talk about what’s brought you to therapy, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. There is no expectation for you to tell your whole story in that first session we’ll work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
I know that starting therapy can feel unfamiliar, so I aim to make the process as welcoming and straightforward as possible.
If, after reading my profile, you think we might be a good fit, I’d be happy to hear from you.
