About me

I am currently working online due to coronavirus and welcome new clients during this difficult time.

I offer a warm, confidential space for you to explore any current issues you may be facing and make sense of your feelings as they arise. I aim to work collaboratively with you to support you to manage your current difficulties that have affected your mental-wellbeing. The aim of the support I offer is to build a therapeutic relationship with you, so you feel heard, accepted, respected and understood. In building a therapeutic relationship, comes awareness of your situation and with self-awareness you have the ability to make a change.

The way I work is dictated by the content you bring to each session, so no two sessions may be the same. I work from an integrative approach and aim to work creatively with you with the ability to draw on a variety of techniques from different counselling theories. This allows me to create a unique way of working, that supports your goals for therapy.

I am extremely passionate about the work I do and find it an honour to share in your experience. I believe that through talking and sharing our concerns with another person can be the building blocks for positive change and provide a welcome release in times of distress.

Training, qualifications & experience

Professional Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (accredited by the National Counselling Society)

BA (Hons) Education, Psychology and Counselling.

I am committed to continuing my professional development and actively seek out further training courses to aid me in my counselling work and support the work of the clients I meet.

Examples of additional courses I have completed are:

  • Working with Bereavement
  • Solution-Focussed Therapy
  • Children & Trauma: Beyond Attachment Theory
  • Working with Chronic Suicidality & Self-Destructive Behaviour.

As well as seeing clients privately I am currently an honorary counsellor at The University of Sheffield supporting students with 1-1 Counselling who are experiencing a variety of issues; ranging from relationship difficulties, academic pressure, depression, anxiety, identity and low self-esteem.

I have previously worked as a counsellor at Pathways Family Support Center in Barnsley for 2 years which was primarily a domestic abuse service. Here I supported individuals to understand, traumatic experiences they had gone through and manage the lasting effects this had had on their lives.
