About me
I am a counsellor offering online sessions across the UK and face to face therapy in Belper, Derbyshire. I have over 25 years of experience supporting people through counselling, support work and trauma-informed practice.
People come to me when they feel overwhelmed, stuck or unsure how to break long-standing patterns.
My style is steady, calm and genuinely curious. I help you understand what is going on inside you, why certain reactions keep showing up, and what needs to shift so life feels more manageable.
Although I have some special areas of experience - I will work with you - whatever you bring - in a way which works best for you.
I am attentive, committed and ask great questions.
Training, qualifications & experience
I initially trained in Integrative Counselling at UWE (1998). I later did further training in Solution Focused Practice (2012) and more recently Internal Family Systems (2024 Level 1 and 2025 Level 2)). I integrate all of them under a relational approach. My main model is IFS.
I worked as a manager in youth homelessness for 20 years and in 2021 became a trainer in Trauma, Attachment and Resilience for KCA training.
In 2020 I set up a small online counselling practice and in 2024 this expanded to full time availability.
I can help you to move on from ways in which you tend to please others ahead of meeting your own needs.
My history of having been bullied as a child gives me a passion for helping people to move from any lasting impacts of this kind of experience.
My family history of being refugees and migration , helps me to work effectively with you if your story is one of not feeling that you belong.
My practice is friendly to people of all sexualities and gender identities and I am experienced and excited about working with those living or exploring a non-monogamous or polyamorous lifestyle.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
