About me

I provide therapy for children and young people who may be struggling with emotions, experiences, or difficulties that can show up in ways they don't fully understand themselves.

They may feel overwhelmed, anxious, angry, withdrawn, or behave in ways that seem out of character such as difficulties in school or risk-taking. These experiences can leave young people questioning themselves and wondering, "What's wrong with me?" or "Am I a bad person?" They may feel different from others, out of control, or as though nobody truly understands what they're going through. Parents and carers often find themselves asking difficult questions too. They may feel worried, exhausted, or uncertain about how best to help. Sometimes they wonder when things changed or why their relationship with their child feels different.

These can be incredibly tough times for everyone involved.

Therapy offers a space to make sense of these experiences and untangle the distress, anxiety, and other powerful emotions that can feel overwhelming. While the process is not always easy, a trusting and safe therapeutic relationship can help young people develop a stronger understanding of themselves, their emotions, and their experiences. When a young person feels accepted and understood, meaningful growth becomes possible. Therapy can help them build confidence, resilience, self-worth, and a clearer sense of who they are.

You and your child do not have to navigate this alone.

Training, qualifications & experience

For over ten years, I have worked professionally with children and young people from primary school age through to 18 years old, including those living outside their biological family home.

I hold a Master's degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy for Children and Adolescents from the University of Roehampton, which provided specialist training in child and adolescent development, brain development, the nervous system, and the impact of difficult life experiences during these important years.

Alongside this, I am a certified EMDR therapist, trained to work with PTSD, trauma, and complex trauma.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
