About me

Hello,

I'm Annemarie,

I appreciate that thinking about counselling can be very daunting, finding a therapist and choosing one can seem huge! So you've thought about it and now are looking, remember,

Sometimes we all need someone to listen... so who am I?

Where am I? I currently work from two bases, my home in Weston Coyney and I have a base in Longton. The base in Longton is very accessible if you don’t drive.

I have a PGDip in psychotherapeutic Counselling and I am a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP), and am bound by its Code of Ethics.

I am also a Children and Young People member of the BACP. I have extensive experience of working with young children through to young adults.

As a member of the BACP, I offer an integrative counselling practice, which means that I use several different modalities, including Person Centred Theory, Attachment theory, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment therapy), CBT (Cognitive behavioural therapy) and others including Mindfulness and meditation. However I am client led, and the therapeutic relationship that we establish together is the most important aspect of therapy.

I believe in a non-judgmental relationship, and by working together to find the most productive way for you to move forward and make sense of your life and it’s problems.

I provide both short term and open ended therapy. Short term therapy may be all you need if you are having problems with a particular issue, but if you have suffered with more complex issues, long term open ended therapy could be needed to help you move forward gently and safely.

Appointments are available on a Tuesday evening, Thursday evenings, Fridays and Saturdays. Out of these times arrangements can be made.

I am also available for home visits if this is a specific requirement.

I have an up to date enhanced police safety check (DBS). I hold professional indemnity insurance and my work is supervised by a BACP approved supervisor.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
