About me

Introductory calls can be booked on my website: https://anneraecounselling.co.uk/book/

I am a qualified counsellor, trauma informed and a registered member of the BACP. We all have a deep desire to be seen and understood and I create an environment in which you can bring all the different parts of yourself. My training is person centred, meaning that I wholeheartedly believe that individuals are able to find their own answers when given a space in which they are accepted.

I focus on creating a relationship in which trust, care and warmth is experienced and in which aspects of self and any anxiety can be openly explored and self-acceptance and self- knowledge can grow.

Having experienced different types of therapy over my adult life, I was drawn to the Gestalt (Person-centred) approach when choosing my training. This type of therapy means that rather than analysing or interpreting what you say, I focus on creating a unique relationship with each client in which self-awareness is built. From here behaviours and thinking are explored together to enable you to make choices which best serve you and the stage of life you are experiencing. I believe that there are always good reasons for why we behave as we do and that when the time is right, we may choose to update the ways in which we live.

Therapy gives you a regular time to review what is happening in your life and to unpack it alongside someone who is non-judgemental.  Together we will create a space for you to reflect on aspects of your mental health and issues which trouble you or cause anxiety, rather than feeling alone with your worries.

I offer short-term and long term counselling and I am able to offer some flexibility if you have a schedule which does not enable you to be available at the same time each week.

Please use the link in my website https://anneraecounselling.co.uk/ to see my availability if you would like to book an introductory call.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
