About me

Welcome

Hello, my name is Anne. I am a qualified BACP registered counsellor with postgraduate masters level training in Integrative Counselling.

If you are here, you have already taken a courageous first step towards seeking support. Life can be overwhelming at times, and while we often turn to friends or family, some issues are too complex or sensitive to share with those close to us. That is where therapy can help, offering a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. All our work will be confidential, and I feel a sense of privilege in listening to your story. Sometimes, just feeling heard and understood in a space that is free from pressure and judgment can be the first step in making positive changes in your life.

My Approach

I offer a warm, reflective, and compassionate environment where you can feel truly heard. I am an integrative therapist, drawing from a range of therapeutic approaches including:

  • Person-Centred Therapy
  • Psychodynamic Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Creative Therapies

This flexibility allows me to tailor our sessions to your unique needs and preferences. We will work together to understand what is going on for you, explore your inner world, and identify ways to move forward.

I also incorporate insights from positive psychology, neuroscience and mind-body practices, recognising that our bodies often hold emotional experiences that our minds may not yet fully understand.

The most important aspect of counselling is the relationship between client and therapist. The first and most important element of my work is my relationship with you. This ensures that you feel safe and supported and not judged, enabling you to look at the areas of your life that are causing you difficulties.

Areas I Work With

I support adult clients facing a wide range of challenges, including, but not limited to:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Abuse
  • Addiction
  • Loss and bereavement
  • Chronic illness and medically unexplained symptoms
  • Eating issues
  • Low self-esteem

Whether you are dealing with recent difficulties or long-standing issues, I offer a space to reflect, heal, and grow.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I am passionate about making a difference in the lives of those I work with, helping to find a path through issues that are past, present or future; memories and events that have influenced your life; situations that are impacting you now and challenges ahead that seem impossible to navigate. Maybe issues you have kept hidden, suppressed and now wish to deal with or face up to.

The initial session will give us an insight as to whether we could work together and help us clarify your expectations and issues that brought you to counselling. You can decide if you feel able to work with me, because it is important to have a counsellor you are happy with.

My practice is located in Hertford.

I understand how daunting starting therapy can feel. That is why I offer a free, no-obligation initial 30-minute consultation. This is a chance for us to meet, talk about what has brought you here, and see if I am the right person to support you.

Thank you for considering me as your therapist. I look forward to the opportunity to support you. If you would like to contact me, please email, text or call using the details at the top of this information.
