About me
I’m a qualified counsellor and Registered Member of the BACP, offering a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever is happening in your life.
You may be considering counselling because you’re experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem or feeling overwhelmed. You might be struggling with experiences from your past that continue to affect you today, going through a period of change, or simply feeling stuck without being quite sure why.
I work from a person-centred approach, which means our sessions are led by you and what feels important to explore. I won’t tell you what you should do or expect you to have everything figured out. Instead, we can work together to understand your experiences, feelings and relationships at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Through Held with Care Counselling, I offer in-person counselling in the Stockport area and online sessions across the UK. Sessions are an hour and cost £55.
I also offer a free 15-minute introductory call, giving you the opportunity to tell me a little about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions and see whether working together feels right for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a BSc (Hons) Counselling and Psychotherapy: Professional Practice, graduating with First-Class Honours from the University of Salford. I am also a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework.
As part of my professional training, I completed over 100 hours of supervised counselling practice, gaining experience working therapeutically with both adults and children.
My core training is in person-centred counselling, and I have a particular interest in attachment, relationships, trauma-informed practice and understanding how past experiences can continue to influence our thoughts, feelings and relationships in the present.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
