About me

I am an art psychotherapist based in Shepherd's Bush where I offer individual sessions for children, adolescents and adults both in-person and online. I appreciate it might be a daunting experience starting therapy or working with a new therapist. I am to cultivate trust and rapport, facilitating a non-judgemental, warm and supportive space, in which we work together on whatever it is you are bringing.

Art psychotherapy can be a powerful and transformational intervention, for anyone experiencing emotional distress, whose lives have been affected by difficult experiences, or those wishing to gain self-awareness and improve their wellbeing. It is an evidenced-based form of psychotherapy that facilitates self-exploration and healing. Talking is one way in which we communicate; art therapy invites us to explore other forms of expression and communication. It allows us to work with feelings and experiences that might be difficult to articulate in words alone.

People of all ages, circumstances and backgrounds can benefit, and there is no need to have any skill or indeed think of yourself as a particularly 'arty' person.

Art-making in itself is healing. In art therapy, the combination of art-making and psychotherapy can support the safe exploration of complex feelings and experiences. Art therapy can reduce distress, promote self-esteem, agency, self-compassion, self-awareness and insight. My approach is psychodynamic, meaning that it focuses on gaining understanding of unconscious processes that may impact behaviour and the self, and how the past has shaped you today.

Training, qualifications & experience

I qualified with a Distinction in MA Art Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths. I have extensive experience across a range of settings such as community mental health, homelessness, in-patient psychiatric hospitals and schools. Alongside my private practice, I work for non-profit organisations with young people and adults. I have a special interest in working with refugees and asylum seekers, and women and children impacted by abuse.

I am BAAT and HCPC registered.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Further information

After a free initial phone consultation, we start with an assessment period, which will span over one or multiple sessions. We will agree how often we will meet and if there is a timescale you have in mind, or would like to work in an open-ended way. Typically, I meet clients weekly for 50 minute sessions, but this can be adapted depending on your needs. I work sensitively around breaks and endings.
