About me

Do you find yourself at a time in your life where everything feels overwhelming and it’s hard to know which path to take? Have you entered a new phase in your life and want something to change? It could be that you want to understand or work on your relationship with yourself or people in your life.

Whatever your reason for seeking counselling, my aim is to walk alongside you on your journey.

My name is Anna and I am a qualified, Humanistic counsellor. This means I work in a way that aims to see your world through your eyes and create a safe, non-judgemental space in which you can explore your thoughts and feelings. This may enable you to understand yourself better by building awareness of the way you relate to yourself and others in the world. In this way, the possibility for change and choice can become more apparent. I will work with you at your pace and encourage you to bring to sessions what you feel you need to explore.

My belief is that past experiences impact on the way we are in the present. Exploring beliefs and messages from the past can give us insight that will enable us the freedom to change aspects of ourselves or patterns of relating that are not serving us anymore.
I also believe that the relationship between a client and therapist is one of the most important factors, and an indicator of how successful the work will be.

Additionally, the dynamics between us can serve as a template for how other relationships play out in your life and is something we can work with together. For this reason, it is important that we explore if I am going to be the right counsellor for you, which is something we can navigate in the first session.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a BA in Humanistic counselling from the University of `Chichester.

My aim is to work with each person as a unique, individual so I encourage you to come with whatever you want to explore.

In the course of my practice I have worked with people suffering with a range of challenges, some of which include; anxiety, depression, life- transitions, overwhelm, stress, bereavement, body image, low self-esteem and relationships with family, partners, colleagues and friendships. If you don’t see your issue on this list please don’t let that stop you from reaching out.

I am a member of and abide by the BACP framework.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
