About me
Do you feel overwhelmed, find yourself putting everyone else first, or feel unsure of who you are as life changes? Perhaps you’re managing anxiety, navigating midlife or menopause, living with a long-term health condition, or parenting a child with additional needs.
I’m Anna Hallett MBACP, a qualified Integrative Counsellor. I offer a warm, down-to-earth and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly, feel heard and begin to make room for your own needs. You don’t have to know where to start or have everything worked out before coming to counselling.
How I can support you?
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, loneliness, relationship difficulties, and challenges with self-esteem and confidence. I have a particular interest in supporting people who feel stretched by their responsibilities, struggle with people-pleasing or boundaries, or have lost touch with themselves while caring for others.
Midlife, menopause and identity
Midlife can bring changes in health, relationships, family roles and how you see yourself. I offer space to explore the emotional impact of perimenopause and menopause, feelings of overwhelm, and questions about identity, purpose and what you need from this stage of life.
Long-term health conditions and disabilities
Living with chronic illness or a disability can affect much more than your physical health. Counselling can provide space to explore fatigue, uncertainty, changes in independence or identity, and grief for things that have become difficult or are no longer possible. My own lived experience of long-term health difficulties informs my interest in this area, while recognising that everyone’s experience is different.
Parenting children with additional needs
I support parents of children with special educational needs and disabilities, including dyslexia, dyspraxia—also known as developmental coordination disorder (DCD)—and other learning difficulties.
As a parent with lived experience in this area, I understand something of the emotional demands of seeking support, navigating systems and advocating for your child. Our sessions offer space for you: your worries, frustration, exhaustion, relationships and needs alongside your parenting role.
Grief, loss and bereavement
I offer support with grief and bereavement, including pet bereavement. The loss of a beloved companion can be deeply painful and may not always be understood by others. I also welcome conversations about other losses, including changes in health, relationships, roles or the future you had imagined.
My approach
My integrative approach draws on different therapeutic perspectives to suit your individual needs, while remaining grounded in person-centred values. We work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
I’m interested in you as a whole person—your emotions, health, relationships, responsibilities, values and what gives your life meaning. Your faith or beliefs are welcome in our conversations if they matter to you and you wish to explore them.
My background and appointments
I hold a Foundation Degree in Integrative Counselling, awarded with Distinction, and completed my counselling placement in a primary care setting. Alongside my counselling training, I bring more than 20 years’ experience supporting individuals, families and communities through youth work, community development and wellbeing services.
I offer in-person counselling in Derry/Londonderry and online counselling throughout the UK.
You are welcome to arrange a free 15-minute introductory call to ask questions, talk briefly about what you’re looking for and consider whether working together feels right for you.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
