About me

You've done the work. You've read some of the books, listened to the podcasts and spent years trying to understand yourself. Yet you keep falling back into the same patterns of striving, adapting and losing sight of what you need.

Trying harder isn't the answer anymore. Therapy offers something different. It gives you the space to reconnect with yourself, trust your own needs and build a life and relationships that feel more like your own.

On the outside, your life probably looks pretty ‘good’. You're capable, dependable and someone others turn to. But inside, you may feel anxious, overwhelmed or burnt out. You find it hard to switch off, struggle to say no and often put other people's needs before your own. Somewhere along the way, you've become disconnected from yourself.

Many of the women I work with have plenty of self-awareness. They can tell you why they think or feel a certain way. But insight alone doesn't always create change. Often, the patterns that keep us stuck began much earlier in life, when being ‘good’, capable or easy to manage felt like the safest way to cope.

Therapy isn't about finding another strategy or trying to become a ‘better’ version of yourself. It's about understanding those patterns with compassion and how they once protected you. As you begin to listen to, and accept, your thoughts and feelings, it becomes easier to trust yourself and make choices that genuinely work for you.

About me

I'm Anna, an accredited integrative relational counsellor based in Peterborough.

Like many of the women I work with, I know how easy it is to spend years focused on doing, coping and getting through life. It's one of the reasons I'm so passionate about creating a space where you can just be, whatever that looks like each time you come.

I know how much courage it can take to let another person see the parts of yourself you've spent years keeping hidden. That's why I place so much importance on building a relationship where you feel accepted, understood and safe to be yourself.

My approach is warm, thoughtful and collaborative. I don't believe therapy is about fixing what's 'wrong' with you. I believe it's about making sense of your experiences, understanding the ways you've learned to cope and helping you reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have been pushed aside for a long time.

I am informed by relational, psychodynamic and humanistic approaches, alongside an understanding of the nervous system and the ways our minds and bodies adapt to cope with difficult experiences. Where it feels helpful, I may also draw on creativity, body awareness and breathwork.

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychotherapeutic Counselling from Matrix College, accredited by Middlesex University. Before moving into private practice, I worked with clients through CPSL Mind, CHOICES Counselling and Cruse Bereavement Support, supporting people experiencing anxiety, trauma, depression, bereavement, relationship difficulties and life transitions.

I am a fully accredited member of the BACP (register no 398612).

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
