About me

Many people come to therapy wondering why they're struggling, feeling stuck, or no longer feeling like themselves. I believe therapy offers the opportunity to understand ourselves more deeply.

Our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours can be shaped by our experiences, our relationships, and the meaning we attach to those experiences throughout our lives. Our experiences can influence the way we view the world, the way we see ourselves, the way we relate to others, and the relationship we have with ourselves.

Over time, we may notice patterns of thinking, feeling, or behaving that once helped us through difficult times. Although these patterns may once have served an important purpose, they can sometimes leave us feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from who we are.

In moments like these, it's only natural to find ourselves asking, "What's wrong with me?" I believe therapy offers the opportunity to gently explore a different question:

"How have my experiences shaped the way I view the world, the way I see myself, the way I relate to others, and the relationship I have with myself?"

Therapy offers a space to slow down, explore your experiences with curiosity and compassion, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself. As your understanding grows, so can your self-awareness, self-compassion, and confidence to make choices that feel more aligned with who you are, who you want to be, and the life you want to live.

My Approach

I am an Integrative Relational Counsellor, drawing from a range of therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs. I don't believe there is a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Instead, I tailor my approach to meet you where you are, working collaboratively in a way that feels right for you.

My role is to offer a safe, supportive space where we can explore your experiences with curiosity and compassion. Together, we can deepen your understanding, recognise patterns, and make sense of your experiences in a way that feels meaningful to you.

At the heart of my work is a warm, genuine and collaborative therapeutic relationship. I aim to create a space where you feel heard, understood and able to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at a pace that feels right for you.

If you're looking for a space where you can explore your experiences and better understand yourself, I would be honoured to work alongside you.

Professional Experience

Alongside my private practice, I work as an Integrative Relational Counsellor within a specialist service. This role continues to shape my practice and deepen my understanding of the diverse experiences people bring to therapy.

For over 12 years, I worked within the substance misuse field, continuing in this role for several years after qualifying as a counsellor. During this time, I also volunteered and later worked as a sessional counsellor within a women's support service. These roles strengthened my appreciation of the importance of building trusting therapeutic relationships and working alongside each person with compassion, curiosity, and respect.

Together, those experiences have shaped the therapist I am today and continue to influence the way I work. They have reinforced my belief that no two people experience life in the same way, and that therapy should reflect this.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
