About me
I’m Angelene, a Clinical Psychologist and EMDR Therapist with 10 years of NHS experience in adult mental health and family settings. Many of the people I work with appear high-functioning but struggle with issues such as; anxiety, self-doubt, work stress, distressing memories, trauma, and relationship difficulties. Therapy can help you understand the roots of these patterns and build a more compassionate relationship with yourself.
As a doctoral-trained Clinical Psychologist, I offer a thoughtful, personalised approach to help you make sense of your difficulties and create meaningful, lasting change. My practice is inclusive of people of all sexualities, gender identities, cultural, racial and ethnic backgrounds, and relationship styles. I have specialist experience in three main areas:
Emotional wellbeing, identity & life transitions:
I support adults with anxiety, low self-esteem, self-criticism, perfectionism, low mood and burnout. I help clients process difficult experiences, make sense of how the past impacts the present, and build greater self-compassion using evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to their needs and goals.
Trauma & EMDR:
I support clients experiencing distress and/ or PTSD symptoms and the ongoing impact of traumatic or overwhelming life events, including childhood experiences, medical trauma, bereavement, assault, accidents and birth trauma. I use EMDR alongside other therapeutic approaches to help clients process distressing experiences, feel less emotionally overwhelmed, and move forward with greater ease. I offer EMDR intensives or regular weekly sessions.
Couples therapy: I support couples whose relationships have been impacted by trauma such as serious accidents, the loss of a child, illness or other distressing events which have impacted the relationship. I also work with attachment trauma, such as an infidelity and betrayals. My approach helps couples create emotional safety, understand unhelpful relationship patterns, strengthen communication, rebuild trust where possible, and deepen their connection.
