About me
Hello, I’m Angela - an integrative, person-centred counsellor offering a warm, down-to-earth space where you can feel heard, understood and supported to make sense of what’s happening in your life.
With a background as a registered nurse and health promoter, I understand deeply how our physical and mental health are connected.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply in need of a confidential space to talk things through, I’m here to walk alongside you at your pace. My practice is rooted in respect, compassion, and the belief that you are the expert in your own life.
How I can help
- Anxiety, stress & overwhelm
- Living with long-term conditions & chronic pain
- Life changes & loss
- Low self-esteem or confidence
- Finding meaning & balance
I work in an integrative way, tailoring therapy to you as an individual. This might include exploring how your thoughts, feelings, and body are connected - and finding small, gentle ways forward that feel manageable.
Practicalities
Sessions are available in-person in Strathaven or online via secure video call. I offer an initial free 20-minute phone consultation so you can ask questions and see if I’m the right fit for you.

Training, qualifications & experience
I originally trained and worked as a registered nurse (RGN) before completing my B.Sc., gaining years of experience supporting people with a wide range of physical health conditions. This background gave me a deep understanding of how physical and emotional health are connected, and how important it is to feel truly listened to and understood.
My interest in holistic well-being led me to run my own massage therapy business and work in health promotion, supporting individuals and communities to take care of their physical and mental health. These experiences continue to shape my counselling practice today - I believe in seeing the whole person, not just a diagnosis or symptom.
I completed my Diploma in Integrative Counselling with a strong focus on person-centred practice, and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I also regularly undertake ongoing professional development to deepen my understanding and to stay up-to-date with best practice.
My approach is integrative, which means I draw from different therapeutic models to suit your unique needs - while always staying grounded in warmth, empathy, and respect for your own pace and story.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
