About me

I'm an experienced person-centred counsellor working face-to-face from Shipham (near Cheddar) and online. I can help you navigate grief, build self-esteem, ease anxiety, heal from trauma, create healthy relationships and move through life changes.

Everyone needs a little help sometimes. You might be going through big changes in your life or experiencing a more general feeling that things aren’t quite right. Counselling offers the space and support to untangle your thoughts and find some clarity.

Qualifications
I hold a level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling, am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), and I follow strict confidentiality and ethical standards.

Working together
At the heart of my work is a person-centred approach. I believe that a trusting therapeutic relationship provides the foundation for meaningful change. I value each person’s individuality and draw on a range of therapeutic ideas and practices to support what feels most helpful for you.

My approach is warm, inclusive and focused on helping you move forward with clarity and confidence. I’m here to empower you. Together, we can create an environment in which change feels possible.

Counselling sessions with me are 60 minutes long. In my experience, this extra 10 minutes above the standard 50-minute session gives you the time to unpack your thoughts without feeling rushed.

Why counselling?
People come to counselling for many different reasons, each as unique as their stories. I have supported adults and young people experiencing:

  • anxiety
  • stress
  • depression
  • grief and bereavement
  • low self-esteem, including imposter syndrome
  • redundancy
  • lack of direction
  • trouble adapting to change
  • relationship issues
  • neurodivergent diagnoses

How counselling works
Connect: book an introductory session to explore your goals and find out if talking with me feels right for you.

Talk: weekly or fortnightly sessions encourage you to examine your thoughts, feelings and challenges in a calm space.

Absorb: between sessions, notice how you're incorporating new ideas and ways of seeing the world.

Move: gain insights, tools and confidence to handle life’s challenges and create positive change.

Location
My peaceful garden room is a private, comfortable space for reflection and growth. I’m within easy reach of Bristol, Wells, Wedmore, Axbridge, Winscombe, Burrington, Blagdon, Wrington and the Chew Valley and also offer secure online sessions for those further afield.

At the heart of successful therapy is finding someone you can open up to. Take the first step by calling or emailing me today and find out if talking with me feels right for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information

I offer face-to-face and online counselling, in 60-minute sessions.

If you’d like to speak to me before deciding to work together, get in touch to book a free, 15-minute phone or video call to chat through what you’re looking for and how I can help you.

If you’d like to experience counselling without commitment, you can book a 30-minute introductory session, at £25 for 30 minutes, to explore your goals and whether you feel we could work together.

When you're ready to begin, our first session will explore your expectations of counselling, and address any questions or concerns you may have.

We will commit to weekly sessions. You can choose between short-term, time-limited counselling or an open-ended arrangement that lasts as long as you need it to. We will schedule times to review your progress and evaluate the work that we're doing together. Our working arrangement may vary to reflect your changing needs during counselling.

I offer discounts for counselling students.
