About me
Angela Rice MBACP
Integrative Counsellor
Hello, I’m Angie, a qualified integrative counsellor and member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I am also a retired midwife and fertility practitioner. I offer a warm, thoughtful and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, accepted and free to be yourself.
You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious or low, struggling with a relationship, or carrying a loss that others don’t fully understand. Perhaps you’re unsure what’s wrong, but know that you would like someone to talk to. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear starting point.
I welcome adults of all genders and backgrounds. Together, we can gently explore what is happening for you, at a pace that feels manageable.
How I work:
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on different therapeutic approaches to respond to your individual needs. I work relationally, which means I place particular importance on the trusting relationship we develop together - one grounded in warmth, honesty, respect, and acceptance.
I will listen carefully and work alongside you to explore your feelings, experiences, and relationships. We can also pay attention to how it feels to be heard, to share difficult feelings and to be yourself with another person. You remain in control of what you choose to share.
Childhood and earlier experiences:
Our early experiences can influence how we see ourselves, express our feelings, and connect with others. Sometimes, ways of coping that helped us through childhood can become difficult to live with as adults.
You may want to explore painful childhood experiences, relationships within your family, or a sense that you have always had to put other people’s needs before your own. You don’t need to understand how the past connects to the present for us to begin.
Within my integrative approach, we can gently explore how earlier experiences may influence your present feelings and relationships, including patterns you may not yet fully recognise. We will remain guided by what matters to you, without pushing you to revisit anything before you feel ready.
Relationships and connection:
Relationships can bring comfort and belonging, but they can also leave us feeling hurt, lonely or unsure of ourselves. You may be experiencing difficulties with a partner, family member, or friend, coping with a separation, or noticing patterns that you would like to understand.
I offer space to explore how you feel within your relationships, what you need, and what may be difficult to express. Together, we can explore boundaries, make room for your own voice, and consider what meaningful connection looks like for you.
My experience:
As a retired midwife and fertility practitioner, I bring more than twenty years’ experience of supporting people through deeply personal moments of hope, uncertainty, change and loss. My background includes midwifery, fertility and early pregnancy care, alongside previous work supporting bereaved families with funeral arrangements and choosing memorials.
These experiences have given me an understanding of the emotional impact of fertility difficulties, miscarriage, pregnancy and birth experiences, as well as grief and bereavement.
I recognise that these experiences can affect both people in a couple, sometimes in different ways. Men’s feelings can be less recognised, and I offer a welcoming space where their grief, fears and experiences can also be heard.
You are equally welcome if your concerns are unrelated to these experiences. Your feelings matter, whatever has brought you to counselling.
Taking the first step:
Reaching out can feel daunting, especially if you’re used to supporting everyone else. You don’t have to make sense of everything before getting in touch.
If you would like to explore working together, please contact me. We can talk about what you’re looking for and whether working with me feels right for you.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
