About me
Hi, I’m Angie, a qualified person-centred counsellor. If you feel anxious, stuck or life feels too difficult to deal with, you do not have to go through it alone. Talking can help. I offer counselling in a safe, confidential space without judgement or expectation. I will be there to support you with compassion and empathy.
Person-centred counselling is led by you, based on what you want and need. It can help in so many ways, whether you are struggling to find your voice, dealing with difficult times in the present or trying to make sense of the past. There might be things you have never said aloud because it has never felt safe to do so. It may be a feeling that something is not right and you do not know why. You might feel lost or alone.
We will work through what is troubling you, at your pace. This could be a positive step towards being the person you want to be and creating a future that brings you more peace and happiness.
I became a counsellor because talking about my feelings and experiences helped me get through tough times. I gained a better understanding of myself, what I need and why. I hope this is what counselling could do for you.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
I work with adults in person in Hitchin town centre. Counselling sessions are £50.
I offer a free 15-minute telephone or Zoom call, where we can have a chat about what is on your mind and you can ask any questions before deciding if you want to arrange the first session.
In your first session, we will talk in more detail about what is going on for you and what you are looking to get from therapy. We can see if we could be a good fit to work together and if it is something you want to continue with. Finding the right counsellor is vital, as the relationship we build provides the safe, non-judgmental space where you can be yourself and talk freely. There is never any obligation to continue. You can stop the work whenever you wish.

Further information
Person-centred therapy is a non-directive form of therapy. You can explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe, empathic, non-judgemental relationship with your counsellor. It can help you to better understand yourself so you can recognise your own strengths and needs. It can lead to greater acceptance and clarity both for now and in the future.
