About me
Hi, I'm Andy! I'm a counsellor, psychotherapist and clinical supervisor with NHS experience. I support adults and younger people from the age of 10 up mostly through face-to-face appointments with some sessions online and over the phone. I have helped people:
* Understand and address problems with anxiety, anger, and low mood,
* Build feelings of confidence and self-esteem
* Appropriately manage stress and unhelpful behaviours
* Address unhelpful patterns of thinking
* Explore and understand their thoughts and feelings
* Become more motivated to achieve their goals
Each problem a person experiences is unique so I'm very happy to have a chat about how I can support you, or someone you in your life. I have particular experience supporting young people, men and boys as well as members of the LGBTQ+ community and neurodivergent individuals.
I hold an enhanced DBS certificate, membership with the British Psychological Society (BPS), and am accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have experience offering counselling within charity and education sectors as well as in an NHS Trust.
While training to become a counsellor, I gained experience working with the Local Authority supporting the care needs of older adults and people with physical disabilities. I also have also worked with the local GP Federation and within integrated care teams, supporting people with complex care needs as well as in business development as part of an Academic Health Science Network.
In addition to my private practice, I work at Godalming College one day a week, counselling the students there. I have also worked in an NHS counselling service, initially during my psychotherapy training before becoming employed there. In over seven years in the NHS, I also supported other counsellors by providing training and supervision.
My training integrates different approaches, which means I adapt my approach to what you need. I believe that the core foundation of counselling and psychotherapy is an authentic relationship which makes people feel safe, comfortable, and open. Please do get in touch if you'd like to discuss how I might be able to support you, your child, or someone you know.
I look forward to hearing from you!

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
