About me

Hi, thanks for viewing my profile and considering therapy together.

I have worked in the therapeutic field full-time for nine years primarily with anxiety and depression difficulties in the NHS.

My main therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in which I am a fully qualified and accredited member of the BABCP (www.cbtregisteruk.com). On top of this, I have three years of training in Integrative Counselling skills.

I am also qualified in delivering EMDR therapy for those interested. EMDR is particularly good at working with past memories that are still having an impact in the present, for more information have a read of this link ( https://www.getselfhelp.co.uk/emdr/) and please do ask if you have any questions.

My experience and extensive training has given me confidence in making sense of personal distress and the knowledge to know what is needed to alleviate it. I specialise in working with anxiety difficulties such as social anxiety, panic disorder, generalised anxiety, health anxiety, OCD, PTSD, phobias, low self-esteem, depression and low mood. CBT is the NICE recommended treatment for these difficulties so entering therapy with myself you can be assured that the treatment is effective and ethical.

My therapy style is to create a safe environment for you so we can work collaboratively by making sense of the difficulty and then looking at ways to change. I enjoy an active approach to therapy by trying new things out in the session which you can take out to the real world and hopefully see a positive impact on your life.

A lovely compliment I have had from a client is that I am 'down to earth and affable' and for me this is a really important aspect of my personality that I try to bring to my therapy sessions. Therapy can be such a daunting process so I try my best to make the process as easy and safe as possible and for me being human and relatable is crucial to that.

Well done on making the first step in looking for support and please do get in touch for a free initial consultation to see how we can work together.

Feedback from previous clients I have worked with:

My therapist was excellent - Andrew really helped me to make sense of what had happened and how to move forward. I am eternally grateful to him for being so caring and considerate. At every level i was listened to and respected. The team provided genuine support and life long help and techniques for dealing with the trauma of a particular event.
My experience was excellent at every level - especially with regards to care for my wellbeing.

My therapist Andrew was amazing. He made me feel comfortable from the very beginning. He was so receptive to what I was saying and took it onboard every single time. Through our sessions I was validated, listened to, and encouraged. He gave me the tools to understand myself and my anxiety and he phrased/introduced/moulded them into ways where they were helpful to me. An important aspect to the positive experience I had was that Andrew spoke to me with a level of vulnerability which made the sessions feel like we were in this together. He did not pretend to know everything or have all the answers. He explored topics with me and encouraged me when I needed a gentle push which made the experience so unique and helpful. I would not be in this positive trajectory without this amazing service, and I am very grateful for that. Otherwise, I would just like to say thank you for this service.
