About me

Hello, my name is Andy and I appreciate you taking time to read my profile.

Life can be overwhelming at times and feel as though it’s full of challenges and uphill struggles. Perhaps you are feeling anxious, depressed, or generally a ‘bit stuck’ with life.

Many people feel the same way, and I am here to support you so that you don’t have to navigate, which way to go, or, what to do, alone. There may not even be a clear issue that you would like to explore but there is just an underlying unease and a ‘not being ok’ feeling.

I am passionate about helping people and I feel and believe that everyone has the right to feel peaceful and safe in this world. By working collaboratively, we will facilitate a judgement free space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences before starting to navigate the changes that you would like to make, all at your pace and within your comfort zone.

Areas Of Interest: -

I have a wide range of experience working alongside clients with many different presenting issues but specialist areas of interest that I work with are

  • grief and bereavement
  • divorce/relationship issues
  • addictions
  • generalised anxiety disorder
  • low mood
  • men’s issues
  • stress
  • health anxiety

Please see below for a full overview of the issues that I work with.

How I Work:-

I predominantly work face to face but also offer online therapy and am based on the Wirral.

I am professionally trained as an Integrative and CBT Counsellor, meaning that when we work together, I can introduce different counselling techniques from different counselling models (Person Centred, Psychodynamic and CBT). This enables us to create a ‘what works best’ for you approach and ‘tailor’ the right type of counselling to meet each individual person’s needs ensuring that the therapy being delivered can be just as individual as you are.

Experience:-

I started training as a counsellor in 2013 and in that time have gained experience of supporting people with their mental health in a variety of settings including one-to-one sessions, workshop development and delivery, institutions, hostels, community-based development, mentorship to student counsellors and volunteer positions.

So that your wellbeing and safety is always protected, I am a registered member of the BACP and NCPS and I adhere to their code of ethics.

I also hold full indemnity insurance, am a member of the ICO and hold a full and up to date DBS.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
