About me
Hello, I’m Andrew — I offer face-to-face sessions from the peaceful and welcoming setting of Beechwood House, where you’ll find a calm space to talk and reflect to begin your journey toward healing.
While I primarily work in person, I also offer counselling by phone if that feels more comfortable for you.
However you choose to reach out, my aim is to meet you where you are, with warmth, understanding, and care.
While each session typically lasts 50 minutes, I dedicate a full hour to our first meeting...this extended time allows us to go through the counselling agreement and for you to share what’s brought you here.
I’ve had the privilege of working alongside individuals navigating a wide range of emotional challenges, including anxiety, low mood, domestic abuse, self-harm, depression, and grief.
Each person’s story is unique, and I’ve seen how transformative it can be when those experiences are met with genuine compassion, patience, and understanding.
My core approach is rooted in humanistic principles, which means I offer a space where you’re deeply heard and valued. When it feels right, I also integrate elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to support you with practical strategies for managing difficult thoughts and behaviours.
This flexible, person-centred way of working allows us to shape the therapeutic journey around your individual needs.
Please note: A reserved car parking bay outside the office is provided for AC Counselling customers.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have various qualifications including my counselling diploma and a degree in BA (Hons) English Literature.
My experience prior to counselling has included numerous projects such as:
Working extensively with young adults experiencing homelessness, helping them navigate the complexities of their situations and find stability. My approach focused on building trust and empowering them to make positive changes in their lives.
I have supported individuals and their families through the challenges of dementia, offering empathetic and patient-centred care. My goal was to enhance their quality of life and provide a sense of comfort and understanding.
I also provided therapeutic support to children excluded from mainstream education, helping them address behavioural issues and emotional needs. My work aimed to reintegrate them back into the educational settings and promote their overall well-being.
