About me

My work is based on compassion and integrity i.e. all your feelings matter and I hold confidentiality in the highest regard. It’s important that we feel comfortable working together so please get in touch for a free 30 minute first-meeting. I will actively listen to you in a warm and thoughtful manner, without judgement, with an aim to build a reliable and trustworthy relationship with you. This trust will enable us to work together with what’s on your mind, how it's affecting you, and how you can cope with your daily life better. Life isn't just about getting through the days... Therapy reminds us that we deserve to be living our chosen life, with purpose, satisfaction, and dare I say, at least some degree of happiness!

I use the psychodynamic approach, which simply means that we will work together to help make links between your current self and relationships, emotions, difficulties, fears, thoughts and patterns, with your past. These links will help in understanding yourself more and why you might feel the way that you do, ultimately improving your quality of life throughout the future. This journey will take work and courage on your part but consider it an investment in a better version of yourself and future.

Going to therapy is about carving out time and space for yourself, with the support of someone who can really help. In the short-term (up to 30 sessions), it can help to overcome a challenging time such as experiencing an illness, bereavement, loss of a relationship or job, infertility, menopause, etc. In the long-term, therapy can provide help with more complex and deep-rooted issues and patterns, such as abuse, anxiety, childhood trauma, depression, family or social acceptance, identity and/or sexuality-based shame, low self-esteem, loneliness, etc.

Working together in the above way, and at a pace that feels right for you, can help increase self-awareness and self-acceptance, ultimately enabling you to (re-)gain more control of your life and feel better.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
