About me

I am an HCPC-registered Counselling Psychologist with 10 years of clinical experience, offering psychotherapy to adults. My professional experience spans the NHS, the voluntary sector and private practice.

I hold a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from the University of East London, a Master’s degree in Mental Health from King’s College London, and an undergraduate degree in Psychology from University College London. Throughout my career, I have worked with people experiencing a broad range of emotional difficulties and life challenges.

My work is primarily informed by Schema Therapy, and I have particular expertise in addiction. I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to respond to each person’s individual needs. I also facilitate mindfulness-based retreats, integrating Zen meditation practices with psychological understanding and psychotherapy.

I offer therapy both in person and online. Many people find that online sessions can be as meaningful and in-depth as meeting in person, while providing greater flexibility and continuity when travel, work or other commitments make attending in person more difficult.

People often get in touch when they feel stuck in difficulties that have been present for some time, or caught in patterns that feel hard to change. These may include low self-esteem, anxiety, low mood, shame, relationship difficulties, trauma and addiction. In my work with addiction, I help people understand and change the emotional and relational patterns that may contribute to or maintain addictive behaviours.

Therapy offers an opportunity to make sense of these experiences with compassion and to explore healthier ways of navigating life. Over time, therapy can help people feel more centred in body and mind, develop greater clarity, find more effective ways of coping, and live in ways that feel more present, meaningful and fulfilling.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is reflective, relational and primarily informed by Schema Therapy. This approach explores how early experiences can shape deeply rooted emotional patterns, beliefs, and ways of relating to ourselves and others. Together, we seek to understand how these patterns developed, how they may continue to influence your present life, and how they can gradually change through awareness, compassion and new experiences.

I integrate mindfulness into this work because I believe in the close connection between body and mind. By paying attention not only to thoughts, but also to emotions and bodily experiences, therapy can support greater self-awareness, emotional regulation and connection with yourself. My approach is collaborative and tailored to each person, creating space for both deeper understanding and meaningful, lasting change.

Initial Appointment

Starting therapy and choosing the right therapist can feel difficult. During the initial consultation, we will explore what brings you to therapy, what you hope to gain, and whether working together feels like a good fit.

You are welcome to arrange a complimentary 15-minute call beforehand to ask questions and briefly discuss your needs, my approach, availability and fees. We can then decide together whether to book an initial consultation.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
