About me
Hi my name is Amy Gould. I am an experienced therapist and offer individual therapy for children, adolescents and adults. I also work with parents of children of all ages individually or together as a family. I have 2 adult children of my own and understand only too well the rewards and challenges of being a parent!
I run my practice from my home in Rainow which is conveniently located for Macclesfield, Bollington, Congleton, Buxton, Cheadle, Poynton, Wilmslow and surrounding areas. There is parking outside and the room is comfortable and private.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a BSc honours degree Psychology, a Postgraduate certificate in Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (PGcert), a certificate in Solution Focused Therapy, 4 years Advanced Training in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy, Level 1 and 2 EMDR training (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and Level 1 and 2 Child EMDR training.
As a psychotherapist I adhere to the UK Council of Psychotherapy code of ethics and receive supervision in accordance with BACP guidelines. I am a member of the BPS (British Psychological Society) the EMDR UK association and a registered member of the BACP (British Association of counselling and psychotherapy). I hold a valid enhanced CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) certificate and hold full professional indemnity insurance
I have over 10 years experience working within the Child and Adolescent Mental health Service (CAMHS) as well as working in residential childcare services, and Adult mental health. I have been working in private practice for 10 years and have extensive experience of supporting individuals to manage a range of issues including depression, anxiety disorders (including social anxiety, OCD, generalised anxiety, panic and specific phobias), self harm, attachment difficulties, PTSD, eating disorders, relationship difficulties, low self esteem. Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
