About me
Hello, my name is Amie, I am a qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, my aim will always be to offer you a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can explore what may be happening in your life.
I understand that reaching out for counselling can feel daunting, particularly when you are unsure where to begin or how to put your experiences into words. But I promise taking a look on here is the biggest step, you do not need to have everything figured out before coming to therapy. Sometimes, we can know exactly what is troubling us, at other times, we may simply have a sense that something does not feel quite right. Both are valid places to start.
My approach is grounded in the belief that the therapeutic relationship is central to the counselling process. I aim to offer a space where you feel heard, understood and able to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, without fear of judgement or pressure to be a certain way.
As an integrative practitioner, I may draw on different therapeutic perspectives to understand you as an individual, recognising that everyone's experiences, relationships and circumstances are unique. Together, we can explore patterns, make sense of past and present experiences, and develop a greater understanding of yourself and what matters to you.
I recognise that different life experiences can shape how we see ourselves, how we relate to others and how we navigate the world. Therapy can offer an opportunity to explore these experiences, reflect on what you may need, and consider what change might look like for you.
Through developing THREAD Psychotherapy, I understand that our lives are made up of many threads that make up who we are, in recognition of this I wanted to offer a space for thoughts, healing, reflection, exploration, acceptance and discovery. You do not need to have all the answers, My aim is to work alongside you, building a therapeutic relationship in which you can feel supported as you explore whatever feels important to you.
Whether you are experiencing a particular difficulty or simply want to understand yourself more deeply, you are welcome to get in touch.
Training, qualifications & experience

• CMI Level 5 in Coaching and Mentoring
• A Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

•Volunteer Counsellor with Rape Crisis
My counselling experience includes supporting adults with a whole range of difficulties, including trauma, depression, grief and loss, anxiety, health anxiety, low self-esteem, and the impact of difficult childhood experiences. I have experience supporting survivors of childhood sexual abuse, sexual violence and domestic abuse.
With my work at Rape Crisis, I have developed experience supporting individuals to explore the impact of distressing and often deeply personal experiences. I recognise that these experiences can affect how we see ourselves, how we relate to others and how safe we feel in the world around us. I believe it is important that each person has the opportunity to be heard, understood and supported without judgement.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I created THREAD Psychotherapy in recognition of the strands in our lives that shape who we are, and how sometimes these threads can become tangled. I wanted THREAD to be a space where there is room to explore these threads through thoughts, healing, reflection, exploration and discovery.
If you are looking for a therapist who is authentic, warm and known to drop the occasional swear word, whether you are navigating a particular difficulty, processing past experiences or seeking a greater understanding of yourself, you are welcome to get in touch.
You do not need to have everything figured out before beginning counselling. We can start wherever you are.
Take care of yourself in the meantime.
Amie
