About us

We have offices in Stockton on Tees. We offer counselling, therapy and clinical supervision.

Are you going through a difficult time or finding things hard to deal with? Are you in need of some support?  Have you reached a point in your personal or professional life where you need a different perspective?
Hello, we are a not for profit community interest company ran by directors Peter and Amanda. We are both qualified counsellors to degree level and Peter is also a registered social worker and clinical supervisor.
We also offer MIM assessments.

We work with families, adults and children.

We are parents and have a lived experience of parenting children who are neurodivergent.

We have a special interest in working with neurodivergence and have over 26 years of experience both personally and professionally of different neurological conditions. We have experience of working with families who have adopted and looked after children, as well as individual adults and children and birth families.

We are NVR (non violent resistance) trained and integrate this into our work with families. We offer NVR group work or individual work with families experiencing difficulties with child to parent violent behaviours. We have experience of working with people who’ve experienced attachment disruption and early life trauma.

We work in an integrated way using a variety of theories. We are professionally registered with the BACP and NCS. We support individuals and families as well as schools and other organisations. We work 1:1 and with groups.

We have experience of working with people who may be experiencing issues which include, anxiety, depression, bereavement, rape, childhood sexual abuse and low self esteem. We work collaboratively empowering people to find answers or solutions to their problems with no judgement.

We believe that every person is unique and we tailor our therapy to the individuals needs.  Our practice is firmly rooted in Humanistic and Person-Centred values.

If you would like to find out more, We offer a free introductory telephone conversation in which you can ask any questions you may have and we can look at if we are able to work together.

If you decide that you would like to work with us we can arrange your first appointment which will last about 60- 90 minutes. We will agree times together moving forward.  This can  be face to face or for an adult we can work face to face or via Zoom or Teams.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Areas of counselling we deal with

Other areas of counselling we deal with

We have therapists who are trained in NVR( non violent resistance)  which can be used with patents, teachers, or caregivers 1:1 or in a group setting.

The NVR Parenting Approach was originally developed to support adults caring for young people presenting with behaviours that concern such as violence, risk taking, aggression or self-destruction.

The NVR approach is now being used in a variety of contexts including adoption, communities, SEND, and schools. If you are struggling to manage your child/young person’s aggressive, violent, controlling or self-destructive behaviour, NVR could help.
