About me
Sometimes, it can be hard to put into words what is going on – you just know that something doesn’t feel quite right. You could be feeling low, anxious, overwhelmed or finding relationships difficult. Equally, you may just feel curious about yourself and want to understand yourself better to help you live a more fulfilling life with greater clarity.
I offer a warm, supportive space where you can talk openly and at your own pace. Together, we can begin to make sense of your thoughts and feelings, helping you to understand yourself more clearly and find new ways of responding to life’s challenges and opportunities.
Taking those first steps (together)
Whether you’re going through a difficult time or simply want to understand yourself better and get more out of life, you’re very welcome to get in touch. Taking that first step can feel daunting but you don’t have to do it alone.
If you choose to get in touch, we will arrange a time for a free, initial 15-minute telephone or video consultation. This will be a chance for us to get to know each other a little, talk about what brings you to therapy and discuss practical matters. Assuming you are happy to proceed, we can then arrange an initial session, where we will have the chance to explore things more deeply. I can answer any questions you might have and you will be able to get a sense of whether us working together feels right for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling from The Counselling Foundation in St Albans and am currently nearing the end of my advanced master’s level training.
Prior to becoming a counsellor, I held senior roles within the medical communications profession and so understand the pressures involved in balancing career and home life.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
