About me
Hi, I’m Amanda, and I really appreciate the courage it takes to reach out for help. As a Psychotherapist and Counsellor with a focus on the Humanistic and Integrative approach to therapy I will help you to recognise your thoughts and feelings and together we can understand and work through the difficulties you are facing.
Within your daily life you may be experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, sadness, or a feeling of being overwhelmed.
During counselling sessions, we will build a working relationship in a safe, secure, warm, empathic, and non-judgmental space.
I offer private counselling based in Nottingham.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a BSc (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy degree, completed at The Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute in Nottinghamshire. My degree is a nationally recognised Bachelor of Science qualification and was awarded by Staffordshire University.
I am also a registered member the of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
In addition to my private counselling practice, I currently work with a charity called Riders Minds supporting equestrians who struggle with their mental health.
I previously operated as a volunteer counsellor with Nottinghamshire Mind in Mansfield for over 2 years and have worked as a volunteer for the mental health text service Shout, working with people in crisis and struggling with their mental health.
I have a range of experience with clients presenting with a variety of issues, this includes (but is not limited to):
- Anxiety
- Panick attacks
- Depression
- Difficult Relationships.
- Addiction.
- Self-Harm.
- Anger Issues.
- Domestic Violence.
- Sexual Abuse.
- Childhood Trauma.
- OCD and PTSD.
- Work Related Stress.
- Personality Development.
- Separation & Divorce,
- Suicidal Ideation.
- Physical & Mental Abuse.
- Attachment Issues.
- Bullying and Harassment.
- Low self esteem.
- Feeling overwhelmed.
- Overthinking.
The above list is not exhaustive, and my practice covers all the above and any other issues that an individual may experience during normal life.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
