Alyson Marlor Counselling & Psychotherapy MBACP (Reg)
About me
I am really glad you found me and I hope you will be too. My name is Alyson and I am a private counsellor/psychotherapist in Keynsham, convenient for Bristol, Bath and surrounding areas. I work with adults in one to one counselling.
I can work with you to explore a range of issues personal and work-related. Are you at a crossroads and don’t know where to turn? I believe that many issues we struggle with stem from a loss. Are any of the following losses affecting your life?
- bereavement
- infant loss through miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, neonatal loss, sudden infant death or accidental death
- anticipatory bereavement
- loss of a relationship
- infertility
- loss of safety
- loss of trust
- loss of approval
- loss of control
- loss of health, ability, independence
- loss of job, career, income, status, responsibility, position
- loss of opportunity
- loss of a dream
- loss of what you wanted but never had
Do you feel:
- depressed
- anxious
- sad
- overwhelmed
- angry
- irritable
- frustrated
- misunderstood
- fearful
- trapped
- numb
- ambivalent
- guilty
- remorseful
- unmotivated
- lacking energy
- as if you want to escape
I am a warmly relational, client-led counsellor/psychotherapist. This means I believe the therapeutic relationship we build together is the base from which we can explore your needs, problems and aspirations to enable you to find your way forward. I am passionate about counselling – you matter and you are allowed to change.
My approach is integrative; I use a range of theoretical models and approaches to respond to your needs. These include; Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Gestalt.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified professional counsellor/psychotherapist. I hold a Diploma in Professional Studies: Counselling from the University of the West of England.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
I am also a qualified Cruse bereavement and loss volunteer and have successfully undertaken specialist Infant Loss training.
Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
