About me

Hello,

My name is Alice, and I know it can be a bit scary seeking out the support of a counsellor, particularly if you’re feeling fragile or vulnerable. But here you are - it requires courage to take the first step, so let me tell you a bit about what I can offer you…

My aim is to always create a safe, stable, compassionate and non-judgmental environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and feel heard, validated, and accepted.

As an integrative counsellor, I aim to be flexible and draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to tailor the sessions to your unique needs - because everybody is different. Above all, I work relationally, which means I hold the relationship between myself and clients at the forefront of the work, building trust and rapport. The counselling process is a collaborative journey, and I believe that the therapeutic relationship itself is a key factor in facilitating change. Through the safety of our relationship, I want you to feel comfortable to share your thoughts and feelings and trust that everything you bring will be treated with respect and confidentiality.

Life can be challenging and be overwhelming for everyone at times, but it does not have to be tackled alone. Whether you are struggling with a specific issue such as anxiety, stress, depression, relationship challenges, bereavement, trauma or if you are simply feeling a little bit stuck or lost, counselling offers an opportunity for help and change.

It also offers a special place to learn about yourself, explore your inner world, to spot patterns in your relationships and behaviours, and gain new perspectives - I truly believe that everyone has the capacity for this kind of growth, but sometimes it can feel like a mountain to climb. Through a supportive and understanding therapeutic relationship we can uncover the strength and resources you need to move forwards.

If this feels like the right fit for you, then please contact me for an initial consultation (free of charge) and together we can navigate the complexities of life and work towards a more balanced and meaningful future for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
